ICFF 2015

International Contemporary Furniture Fair, May 2015

For ICFF 2015, we released a study in wood beams reclaimed from the iconic Domino Sugar Refinery. Built in 1882, the Refinery was once the largest of its kind in the world and the antique heart pine beams that formed its structural skeleton speak both to the destruction of the revered building and the history of the materials that Brooklyn is founded upon. By presenting these beams in an abstract, unified context we wanted to explore the timelessness of natural materials in the face of man-made forces; a riff on their underlying ethos of subversive nature and the effects of implicit natural forces on materials.
