Senior Account Manager – West Coast

Job Summary

UHURU Design seeks a West Coast-based Senior Account Manager to support our expanding Business Development operations in San Francisco and other major West Coast markets. An Account Manager is responsible for managing the customer experience from sale through project completion and beyond. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in professional customer service environment, be highly organized, driven and have strong communication skills. Reporting to Uhuru’s Business Development Director, the Account Manager ensures that clients receive customer service beyond expectations, and that new clients are prospected and brought in to further the growth of the company. This role will be be primarily focused on Workplace products and services but will also represent the breadth of UHURU’s offerings. This position is based in San Francisco.

Job Description

  • Researches accounts to understand their industry, business priorities and objectives and competition
  • Communicates value propositions of UHURU product and service offerings to qualified leads
  • Conducts presentations and meetings, both formal and informal, to key clients
  • Utilizes peer-to-peer networking and social media to make connections with key decision-makers
  • Develops/owns the account and opportunity strategy,
  • Works with the customer to understand, develop and bring consensus on needs
  • Influences and/or responds to the customer to make a decision to purchase or expand our solution
  • Develops/builds volume within assigned accounts to a sustainable level
  • Conducts all sales activities and processes within the parameters of the UHURU Sales process, utilizing corporate tools/resources provided
  • Maintains CRM information so Sales Leadership can accurately complete monthly forecasts of expected sales volume, by account, by product line
  • Manages within assigned expense budget
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field-equivalent level of experience considered
  • 5+ years of progressively successful contract or capital goods selling experience, preferably including experience in strategic sales planning with large, national accounts within the contract furniture industry
  • Experience leading teams and/or complex projects preferred
  • Must have a love for new ideas and a passion for the sales process with an understanding of its foundations, actively seeking opportunities, calculating risks, and committing to action
  • Advanced selling skills, e.g. new business development, account penetration, strategic/conceptual/consultative selling, negotiation and contracts, as well as the ability to think strategically and execute tactics
  • Must have strong organizational and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to collaborate and negotiate
  • Must be an assertive, self-starter with the self- confidence and ability to represent UHURU in a professional manner in order to gain a high level of confidence from a diverse group of customers
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced/changing environment and able to build long term relationships with customers/partners, particularly at senior decision-making levels within an organization
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication ability with strong emphasis on listening
  • Demonstrated high personal performance standards, the desire and ability to continuously learn and must be results-oriented
  • Demonstrated high level of integrity and business ethics
  • Must be financially literate and possess business acumen
  • Ability to effectively use office automation, communication, software and tools used by UHURU
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required
  • MS Office skills, particularly, MS Excel, required
  • AutoCAD skills a plus
  • Foreign language skills a plus
