On this Floorplan, OpenHouse NY host George Oliphant teaches us a few simple steps for creating an eco-friendly space. Using the principles of reduce, renew, and reuse, George profiles eco-friendly products and employs principles that are easy to replicate in your home. First, George visits Bettencourt Green Building Supplies for tips on paints and countertops that are environmentally sensitive. Then George visits with William Hilgendorf from Uhuru to learn about sustainable furniture made with wood from fallen trees, recycled fabrics and lamps that only use compact fluorescent bulbs. Finally George, checks out The Future Perfect to find recycled items like bowls made from records and vases from wine bottles. After it’s all done, Green interior designer and Pratt Institute professor, Carol Crawford checks out George’s new space to see how eco-friendly it has become. To see how George did and to pick up a few tips yourself, check out this video…
